Give yourself over to the Ganges River

While the Ganges, India’s holiest river, is better known as the slow, wide river that laps against the ghats of Varanasi, here in the mountains its fast-flowing waters offer adventurers the thrilling experience of white water rafting. Get your adrenaline pumping on a one or two-day rafting trip during which you can spend the night directly on the river’s banks in a riverside tented camp. Rafting tours take place between Deoprayag and Laxman Jhula at Rishikesh and are led by trained guides.

When not rushing through the rapids, take the time out to watch the numerous temples that line the river’s banks, inhabited by orange-cloaked monks. Discover the river in its many moods, whether foaming in between rocky chasms or gently washing up onto sandy shores.
